This contract is funded by a grant to the Sichuan Health Information Center from the USTDA. USTDA's grant program is designed to help countries establish a favorable trading environment and a modem infrastructure that promotes sustainable economic development. To this end, USTDA funds overseas projects that sponsor access to U.S. private sector expertise in the areas of trade capacity building and sector development and project definition and investment analysis. USTDA signed a Grant Agreement with the Sichuan Health Information Center (SHIC) in August 2009. In May 2010 SHIC selected the team of QSI and the IBM-China Research Lab to provide the technical assistance for the RHIN planning. QSI selected Assevero in June 2010 to provide security engineering support to the project.
The project will provide strategic and technical services that will enable the development of a healthcare system across the province of Sichuan based on e-healthcare technology. It is expected that once implemented, the resulting Regional Health Information Network will vastly improve healthcare in the province.
